What is a mission statement? Why is it important? Do you have one? Does the program you are applying to have one? Have you read it?
A program's mission statement is important and you should take the time to read and reflect on the ideas guiding a program. Hopefully the programs you are applying to have a focus and values similar to yours. At the very least you should read it and know it for the interview or any supplemental applications you may write.
Do you have a mission statement? What about a written out list of goals? List of values? If you don't I encourage you to HAND write out a list of goals. I a, guessing if you are reading this one of your goals is to get into PA school. Start by writing it down and then work from there. Another option is to write your top three on a small piece of paper and keep it in your wallet, so every time you buy something you are reminded of your goals. Wherever you choose to put your goals or mission statement I encourage you to hand write it. I know from personal experience and from what I have heard over the years that hand writing your goals is much more powerful then typing them or just leaving them in your mind. Write it down, make it real, keep them in front of you and stay focused!
Happy studying! PAs ROCK!
